The county of Hampshire lies on England’s south coast. It has as its neighbours the counties of West Sussex, Berkshire, Surrey, Wiltshire and Dorset. The county town is Winchester even though Hampshire includes the cities of Southampton and Portsmouth. Including these two cities the county has an overall population of around 1,600,000.

Hampshire has a buoyant tourism industry with attractions such as The New Forest, The South Downs, the maritime history of Portsmouth and Beaulieu Motor Museum. For literature fans the area was home to both Charles Dickens and Jane Austen.
